There is an optical property where resolution is a function of aperture size. The wider the lens the more resolution is available to be imaged on the sensor. Smart phone cameras have very small apertures. That's why f16 is not as sharp as f5.6. The question is, are the digital sensors there yet where this would make a difference. I just some wedding photos that were stunning. Clearly stunning, I need to find out what camera/format was used. Back in the day, I was a resolution freak, 4x5 camera.
