I am abivalent to the Royal Family, the concept of which seems "silly" as my father put it. My family is British, I am 1st gen American. But bears mentioning many admired the comeback the German economy made after the destruction of WW1. It was unfortunately built on re-arming the German military. I've often wondered how the men who fought in WW1 were horrifed that merely 10 years later they saw the revival of the German military with fascism at its core. And but in 20 years war in Europe was again. I lost many great uncles in WW1, my family's appetite for another war was less than "lets go".
