One of the best examples of a blockchain reason to be was just canceled. Reason: “The need for full global industry collaboration has not been achieved”.

The need was there, the implementors were capable and leaders in their fields. If a blockchain can’t succeed here, then where?

We have been told for years, “Blockchain technology changes everything”.

You have probably explained to people that cryptocurrencies are an implementation on a blockchain, blockchains are the technology that makes cryptocurrencies work and that there great opportunities for blockchain tech to make a difference with non-cryptocurrencies applications. So what happened?

The teaming of IBM and Maersk to create TradeLens was a match made in blockchain heaven. IBM the tech giant had the gravitas to create the blockchain and support it. Maersk the largest container shipping line from 1996 to 2022 had the volume. 4,264,693 shipping containers and 732 ships. While a big player, Maersk’s share of TEU’s is just 16.6% of the estimated 24,200,000 shipping containers world-wide.
