Not getting the tie in with "Josie Wales". Other than a brief scene in the town where Josie confronts and kills a bunch of Union soldiers, the movie mostly takes place outside of populated areas and I can't remember seeing any cowboys in the movie. The movie is one of my favorites, the journey, redemption and ultimate finding of his place in the post Civil War America. The young Confederate soldier, representing the South, dying and his dead body being sent by Wales into the Union camp for "a proper burial" is seared in my mind as a metaphor for Wales past self and his need to move on and live.
