Nice article. Worth the read. Fascism also has an extreme Nationalism component to it. Often to strengthen the Nationalism an external threat must be identified. Us vs them. "Them" want to destroy us, so "get in line". And of the self identified Fascist states, Spain, Italy and Germany they all had strong arm leaders with branches of the party to enforce the party line.

I think the Nationalism, Identied threat and the Strong Arm Leader, undermine the "social contract" linkage. There definentlly is a "social contract" aspect to Fascism but I don't think it's what Hobbes had in mind. Could be wrong, I'm more knowlegeble about Locke and Calvin, than Hobbes.
