I'm not being argumentative, believe me. I wonder if python is so high because it is the language they are teaching student coders and this is a metric of googling tutorials. I would disagree with lumping C and C++ together.

Fortran was my first language, followed by PLM then C. I still use C, but I do embedded programming.

A point of this article is the use of Fortran in scientific computing, that jives with my observations. Probably in no small part because of huge legacy code.

Thanks for the link, I didn't know that one.
